Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the Caramel
In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water.
Heat over medium heat without stirring until the mixture turns a deep amber color.
Pour the caramel into a 24 cm (9.5-inch) round cake pan and set aside.
2. Prepare the Flan Mixture
Blend the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract for 1 minute.
Set aside.
3. Prepare the Chocolate Cake Batter
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the oil, milk, and vanilla extract, and mix for another minute.
Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth.
