Clara couldn't sleep anymore.
Every night, she stared at the ceiling, her heart pounding too fast, as if something were watching her in the darkness. Yet her apartment was silent. Too silent.
Everything had changed in the last few months.
After her breakup with Julien, she started seeing a psychologist. At first, it was just to "talk." But very quickly, the sessions became essential. Clara clung to these appointments like a lifeline.
— “You need to learn to trust your perception, Clara,” the psychologist often repeated.
But Clara had doubts.
She forgot things. Simple details. Entire conversations. Sometimes she found objects out of place without explanation. A cup in the bathroom. Her phone turned off even though she'd left it charging.
The worst part... was the messages.
One evening, when she opened her phone, she found a conversation with an unknown number.
“You know very well what you did.”
She didn't remember writing anything. Yet, the answers were there.
“I’m sorry…”
“I didn’t mean for this to happen.”
His own words. Or at least… they seemed to be.
